Information on Library System Migration: Late August: Library Closure and Service Interruption (Borrowing, Returning, Requesting, and Renewing)

  • Due to the system migration, some services will be interrupted during August. We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Library Closure (From August 30th to September 1st)

  • From August 30th to September 1st, all libraries will be closed.
    • August 30th (Fri.): All Libraries will be closed temporarily.
    • From August 31st (Sat.) to September 1st (Sun.): Central Library will be closed temporarily. Other libraries will be closed as usual.

Hold Requests: Unavailable from August 21st to September 1st

  • From August 21st (Wed.) to September 1st (Sun.), you cannot place hold requests on books that are currently on loan through WINE.
  • Hold requests that are not yet held at hold shelf by August 26th (Mon.) will not be migrated to the new system and canceled. If you do not receive an email notifying you that the requested book is placed on the hold shelf by August 27th (Tue.), your requests will become invalid. In that case, please place a request for the book AGAIN from WINE after September 2nd (Mon.).

Renewal: Unavailable from August 23rd to September 1st

  • Renewing due dates of borrowed books will be suspended from August 23rd (Fri.) to September 1st (Sun.).
  • However, because of the “Summer Loans,” which is implemented annually, due dates will not fall in the above period and there are no books that cannot be renewed due to this suspension.
    • This year’s “Summer Loans" period is from July 19th (Fri.) to August 26th (Mon.). During this period, you can borrow books for 60 days.
    • If you have books that are due during the Summer Vacation, from August 5th (Mon.) to August 22th (Thu.), and returning or renewing within that period are expected to be difficult, we recommend you to return them once and borrow again in advance after July 19 (Fri.) so that 60 days loan period will be applied. (Please note that books that have hold requests must be returned and cannot be borrowed again.)​

Borrowing and Returning: Unavailable from August 27th to September 1st

  • Borrowing service is not available from August 27th (Tue.) to September 1st (Thu.).
    • August 27th (Tue.) to August 29 (Thu.): Libraries and reading rooms will open, but due to library system outage, borrowing and returning services are not available.
    • August 30th (Fri.) to September 1st (Sun.): All libraries will be closed as above and borrowing and returning services are not available.
    • Books returned to book return posts, etc. on August 27th (Tue.) or later will be processed by the new system and the return date will be on September 2nd (Mon.) or later.
    • From September 2nd (Mon.), new overdue penalty policy will also be applied to overdue books that are due before September 2nd (Mon.).
    • If you have blocks on your library account that will expire on September 2nd (Mon.) or later, your account will remain blocked in the new system and your library privileges will be suspended until the original block expiry date.
