1950年代から2000年代まで、宮澤が要職についていた全時代をカバーし、未公刊の日記やメモ、外交文書、省庁・党内の政策資料、国内外要人との書簡等、7,000点を超える原資料で構成。戦後日本の実像に迫る一大ドキュメント。
